Human Research Ethics Committee

Project Tracking and Compliance Software

The HRECTrack software is tailor-made for Human Research Ethics Committees (HRECs), enabling staff to enter and track research projects and their associated researchers and sponsors. It also tracks HREC members and meetings, enables electronic document storage and retrieval and supports reporting functionality, simplifying the ethics and governance requirements of day-to-day HREC management in accordance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Research Involving Humans issued by the National Health and Medical Research Council in 2007 together with other relevant federal and state legislation and regulations.

HRECTrack has been designed for maximum functionality with minimum effort. Many data options can be selected from configurable drop down boxes across the program while others require text to be entered each time, to ensure absolute specificity. Codes are automatically assigned to projects, as are the due dates of progress reports. Required fields are coloured for ease of use, and projects cannot be saved unless all required fields are correctly completed.

All features can be personalised to your own requirements, such as project codes, dates and reports. Reports can be generated into Word or Excel format, depending on your preference, and can be created as part of a meeting agenda, or simply for reference. Full lists of projects can be exported with the click of a button, as can a list of outstanding project actions.

The alert feature is designed to flag any project with outstanding actions, whether a progress report or insurance update is due or a project has not been approved within a reasonable amount of time. Any overdue actions are quickly and easily discovered. There is also a compliance page, that records whether the project fully complies with guidelines, and all projects with outstanding compliance issues are marked with the symbol on the project home page.

The advanced search function enables searches for researchers, categories, sponsors, status and more, and all this can be done within a set date range, i.e. all of Professor B’s oncology projects approved in 2010.

The HRECTrack software also offers a full document repository, where documents can be stored against projects for later reference or retrieval via the web user interface.
The NHMRC's HREA Application can also be imported into HRECTrack!

A context sensitive online help facility is also integrated into the HRECTrack user interface, simplifying training for new users, and answering more complex questions for seasoned operators. Check-out the help system by selecting the question mark in the top right hand corner of this web page.

All purchased licences come with training from an experienced user who can fully demonstrate HRECTrack’s extensive capabilities. In addition, data migration and custom reports can also be factored in when a quotation is drawn up for the system.

For peace of mind, the system is hosted and protected by an e-Commerce grade digital certificate, as well as firewalls, and all the other technical hoo-ha. Bottom line is that your data and documents are safe and secure, and you don’t have to worry about infrastructure, or other issues that may concern your Information System department.
